1995 e320 blower motor question
I need to replace my blower motor (squeeling). When I look up the parts - I get two options, with or without a dust filter. Is there a way to tell which I need without opening it up for a look? I woild like to order the part before I try to open it up. Thanks

Your car has the dust filter. Change it while you are in there. Be careful not to damage the plastic channel at the bottom of the windshield that the rubber seal fits into. Clean it and use soapy water to lubricate it when reinstalling.
If your brushes are still OK, the squeal may be dry bushings. If it hasn't been doing it long enough to wear the bushings or damage the shaft, then lubricating the bushings with automatic transmission fluid works great. You could get many more years out of the fan. Avoid getting oil on the brushes and commutator. A syringe works great for getting into the tight spots. Around the bushings are felt rings that normally keep the bushings lubricated (won't be visible). Soak them well. |
