Non-Bosch oxygen sensors

There are a lot of oxygen sensors out there that are claimed to work on our cars, anyone have experience with non-Bosch oxygen sensors? and does it really matter? I can get a non-Bosch direct fit sensor specific to my car for $50 shipped. Even the universal Bosch is in the 60-80 range....

input please

It's not hard to splice in the $35 Bosch sensor for a Ford 302...

Here you go - Bosch 13953.

Here is the thread - http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=52938&highlight=oxygen+dodge+caravan

I think I posted this same information in your other thread on the weird exhaust smell.

My w124 uses a 4 wire sensor...the mentioned ford sensor seems to be a three wire sensor. the grand voyager 4 wire sensor takes us back to step one = it is expensive even as a universal sensor

I will look into this more....

so the other brands are not suitable for these cards?

As a California smog tech i do a lot of 02 sensors.Japanese sensors can be very different than German. On a recent Jeep ,1999,with a new ND sensor, the jeep had 1,000 nox, when changed to bosch nox dropped to almost 0.This does not happen all the time but often.
Also if a new 02 still has CO that is not as low as it should be we order a new 02 and now the readings are perfect. So new 02s can be off a little or alot ,but correct brands are very important.Having a smog machine to verify tailpipe readings can be very helpful.
On 3 wire sensors that have to be spliced DO NOT USE THEM.Have tried about 10 of these and gave up.These go in older BMW,PORSCHE,AND Benz.some work for a short time or not at all.CO does not stay steady or goes nuts.Direct fit 02s are much cheaper than a cat converter'
How many bad 02s throw codes on pre1996 cars is just about 0

When using a splicer, always solder the splice. Small increases in resistance due to being exposed to the elements, and the inevitable corrosion will throw the reading off quite a bit. It's just because the voltage in this circuit is quite low and therefore very susceptible to changes in circuit resistance.
