Exclamation Car in LIMP MODE...please HELP !

Hi,
I have a situation with me '99 C280.
A little history on this car - I bought it about 6 months ago and am the fourth owner. It has about 107,000 miles on it. One rainy day(57 degrees) I noticed that when I brake and as the the car was just about to stop, it would jerk slightly, as if the transmission had downshifted at the last moment. I also noticed that this happened only in certain situations (in stop-and-go traffic and/or when the engine temp crossed 100 Deg. C,
and went into LIMP MODE.
But everytime after I turn the ignition off and then i a few second back on the car shifts and drives smoothly.
And the funnny thing is always would go into LIMP MODE after stop and go kinda traffic or red light. The CEL is not on and have not scanned it for codes yet.
What do you reccomend for me to do ?
If I only clean up the conductor plate - would that solve the problem?
I would appreciate any information, links or info!
Thanks in advance!

P.S. Since I own the car (since June)there were no problems with shifting

If i were you eventhu the CEL is not on i would check it with the obd2 and see if you get any code the CEL light bulb can be bad sometimes. The coolant temperature sensor, the brake light switch can cause the car to go on limp mode as well. Your car is running really hot. I would start with the cheapest stuff witch is probably a thermostat and a coolant temperature sensor and a brake light switch, but first see if you get any code with an obd2.

100 is a little hot. Could be your electric fan or relay.

Scan it and report back (with the actual code).
