Need help with a few problems on a w124.

Hi..
I resenly bought a 88 300e 4matic that have a few issues.

I`ll start with a spec list:

88 300e
4matic
automatic
ac\2 zone climate
some kind of petroll heater ( webasto? )

And then there is the problems:

1: when i breake and get the car down to about 2-4mph, the abs kicks in.. it works as it should in every other speed, but right before i stop it kicks in.
this is kind of annoying since it makes me feel like i`m going to drive right into the car infront of me.
Anyone know what this can be?


2: the car only got power windows in front, but these do not work, do not go up or down,
I have checked the fuse, and messured that the swithces is getting power. so my thoughts where that the motors themself is faulty? is this a common issue on these cars? or is there anything else i need to check?


3: My centrall locking only works when it`s warm outside, if its cold the vacum oump does not start, ( no difference if i use the key or the alarm to open the doors)
When i got the car, the vacum system for the central locking had a leak so the pump was running for a long time each time he locked the car.. so i`m thinking that maybe the pump is tired.. but just wanted to see if anyone else got some good ideas to what it can be?


4: I don`t get as much heat that i think i should from the blower, it`s is some heat, but not nearly as much as i think i should be getting.
The last ower told me that he had the car to a shop a few years ago and changed some parts in the dash to get the heating to work again, but not shure what it was.
I have also felt the hoses going from the engine to the heater in the dash, and those hoses are alot cooler than the rest of the cooling hoses, so there seems to be something that is stopping flow or something?
Anyone else know what i should check?


Well, that`s all the important stuff i need to get fixed, so thanks for reading this post and hope to get some help:-)

1 Try taking out the ABS sensors and give them a wipe/clean. This might cure the problem temporarily. this way i isolated a bad front sensor on my 300CE (not 4matic tho) and bought a replacement and cured the same problem you describe. My ABS light went on too and stayed on until a restart.

2 I had front window issues with a 300D 124. The windows only worked when the drivers door was opened. Turned out a diode needed replacement in the fusebox.

4 Is there a thermostat fitted and is it the correct one? Possibly its OK as you say the hoses in the engine are hotter. Or maybe its a duo valve problem which is beside the fusebox (on a RHD car).

Just some ideas. Good luck

I've had stuck window motors that I revived by unscrewing and lubing the worm gear.
