This is not a correct statement. "Mineral oil" refers to oils that are derived from crude oil by normal distillation and catalyitic cracking processes. "Synthetic" oils have that name because they are derived from petrochemical feedstocks in a specialized chemical transformation process i.e. they are "synthesized".

You're right. I think I was having a senior moment - but I don't remember.

For those of you (us) that have warrantied MB's, be aware that adding any of those aftermarket additives to your oil will void your warranty.

Do as you wish, but be aware...

Zmax: Its just Overpriced Mineral Oil, that's all it is.

Zmax: Its just Overpriced Mineral Oil, that's all it is.

That fact was stated by the FTC in its 1999/2001 investigation and lawsuit of the seller.

You can read about that at the FTC website. I read the whole FTC Complaint.

Talk about bringing up an old thread

You're preaching to the converted bro'. Zmax, Slick 50 and Duralube all suck. But there will always be people out there who want to do something "special" for their car even though they have no clue what to do, all they know is they spent a lot of money on this 4 wheel contraption and they want to treat it well...perfect opportunity for the above brands with their marketing to step in and make money.

$40,000

That would be $30,000 for the Lawers and $10,000 for Lycoming. Sound like avaition.
