W123 fuel system

HI all,
sorry for this rather simple question. I just changed the fuel hoses of my W123 200E because they were leaking and it smelled pretty badly.
Everything went well. however, the car does not start anymore.
And now, I just noticed that there is another little hose which is broken and where gasoline is leaking... I am not sure what the parts are called and what function they have. but it seems that this might have been the cause for the smell.
does anybody know if this is a reason for the car not starting and what function the little hose has? It goes back to the point where the incoming fuel hose comes in.
Any answer would be helpful.
Thanks a lot.

Not many 200E's here in the states, so experienced opinions will be few and far between. How about taking some photos and tossing them up? I'm certain you'll get help here, but we might need help from you first.

It sounds like you are looking at these hoses where they connect to the tank. If there are just 2, obviously, they are the feed & return lines. If there are more, then at least two more are part of the recirculation system for the charcol cannister that holds fuel vapors. Then it is possible that it is one of these that you changed, and what you are looking now is a feed hose leeking. If this is not the case, then you may just have to crank the engine long enough to purge the feed line of any air that was introduced when you changed the hose.
