Alas, no - while my short (~1.5 miles on local streets and a short highway spring) test drive after replacing the plug wires seemed to indicate the problem was gone, it came back when I was taking the car out onto the road again for a proper drive.

All fixed!
After I replaced the spark plugs, the problem still remained so I took it to my indy. The coil pack for cylinder 2 wasn't working, this caused all the problems. I picked one up and installed it that weekend, and the car is running smoothly again! I'm thinking of replacing the other two just as a matter of course.

Steven, I wouldn't bother replacing the other 2 coil packs unless you experience a rough running engine again. Now that you know the symptoms of a bad coil pack the diagnosis will be easy next time around.

Nice work Fred. Another successful repair suggestion. Coil pack. I'm always glad that you are contributing.
And cliffmac... what can one say?? Thankfully, haven't seen cliffmac posting lately, but I have a theory about that. Anyone else think that maybe macdrone is cliffmac's new handle?
