Question 1987 190D HEATER FAN

I have a great 1987 190D, my first Benz. The heater blower motor fans have come loss and I need to get in an replace or repair this unit. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

A second issue is when ever I turn on the defroster, the thing (blower) runs at full blast on high heat, is this normal?

Thanks

I think it is normal to be on full when defrosting. My 190D does the same but I do not have the user manual to verify it. Cannot help you on the heat as mine does not do it. My Climate Control is in 'working' condition but I put up with some quirks.

Your car is a W201 chassis vehicle with a diesel engine - either the OM602.612 (rare 2.5 turbo) or the OM602.911 (naturally aspirated 2.5L). When you go to work on the vehicle and find threads or DIY articles on the job, choosing search terms that include W201 or OM602 will really help you find what you're looking for.

This thread will get you started on the blower motor: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=242345

When you turn on the defrost, it will run the blower on high, with full heat. The air is also directed at the windshield.

Wink 87 190D

Thanks this is a great help. I have the 2.5L non-turbo engine with a automatic transmission. Nice care to drive once I learned how to drive it properly.

Thanks again
