How hard is it to steal a Mercedes ?

How hard is it to steal a Mercedes ? That's what I thought. Without the key, it's gonna be pretty darn hard.

So why would good ole' Charlie push his MB down a ravine?

Rather hard to drive it away. Not so hard to pick it up with a flatbed and tow it.

At the very least, to move the car, somebody has to defeat the brake pedal/key/shifter interlock.

Older ones like my first gen w126 300SD's you'd only have to defeat the steering lock. You could start up the motor real easy once you had access under the hood.

Referenced article doesn't mention it but local news broadcasts said 'he felt comfortable leaving the keys in the car since he lived in a gated community'.
