89 300ce surging idle/stalling

hi,im having issues with my engine surging at idle up and down, from 1,000 rpm to 500 rpm, when i slow to a stop fast or turn the wheel it occasionally is stalling on me, i found a broken vacum line to the fuel pressure regulator repaired it,also replaced a cracked air breather hose to the valve cover, the electro hydraulic valve is defective and unplugged, coul this be the issue, what else can cause a surging idle and stalling issue, any help will be appreciated, thanks.marc

the idle surges are due to a dirt clogged idle control valve ,ICV. This has two rubber pipes attached to it and a two pin electrical connector . remove ICV and clean insides with carb cleaner . At the same time do clean the air plate and the air bore right down to the bottom end butterfly, spotlessly This will sort the idle problem .The EHA does not control idle, only the fueling mixture under various running conditions ,enrichment etc.
i hope this helps

hi,the idle control valve is brand new,and i tested it,it appears to be working fine, the valve open and closes.where is the air plate and air bore located?i will remove the idle air control valve and clean the rest.it appears that them 2 pipes go down under,i cant see where they go.

Air flow plate is the big round disk where all the intake air goes . you can push it down with a finger , the whole inside of the bore and the bottom end where the butterfly is located may require a thorough clean.
