Euro 560SEC crank position sensor

I spent the best part of three hours today trying to get the crank position sensor out of the bell housing with no luck. I applied so much pressure that I broke most of it off which also does not help.

It turns easily but refuses to come out from the top. I can get my hand around it from underneath but not enough to be able to pry it out.

Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated.

Have you tried unbolting the housing that the sensor mounts to?

Hi MB DOC, I am not familiar with the housing. There is a two bolts up top and a bolt that bolts the sensor to the bell housing. I broke the plastic housing on the clean off trying to pry it out.

The 2 big bolts hold the housing in place. unbolt that piece.

Very interesting, I did not notice these but I will take a look tonight. Are these accessible from the top or underneath?

As always, I appreciate your guidance in these matters.
