W126 AC expansion valve location

83 380 SEL
Would someone direct me to the location of the AC expansion valve. Planning to replace it and the dryer, and flush the system. Any tips appreciated.
I have read several post and think I understand how to do this. The post I got the most from was on a 84 300 SD. Is mine in the same locaiton?
Thanks!

AC expansion valve is inside under dash above the gas pedal. AC expansion valve and the dryer are in the same place in the SD and the SEL cars.

Good luck,
Paul

That's the receiver/dryer. One of its pipes goes through the firewall and to the expansion valve.

Thumbs up

I highly suggest doing far more reading on the subject if you do not know where the main components are located.

R&R of the TXV will tax your patience to the extreme. You will want metric stubby wrenches, line wrenches, crows feet, etc, etc.

I'm not a mechanic but I'm not as ignorant as my questions suggest. I misread "AC expansion valve and the dryer are in the same place in the SD and the SEL cars". I thought what he was saying is that the two components are in the same place, as in right next to each other under the dash. I was fairly sure that was not true but I felt it would be more tactful to clarify the question the way I did.

I appreciate the concern.

Thanks!

Ah okay. Many get in over their heads when working on these vehicles, let alone HVAC.
