1987 W124 6 cyl intermittant stalling issue

i have this 1987 w124 wagon that will run for 20-30 minutes and cut out. if you let it sit for 15 mins it will start back up and do the same thing. p.o. told me it might be the cam pos sensor. is this a possibility and how can i be sure? i dont want to start throwing parts at the car (literally or figuratively)
thanks
gregg

Good question but intermittent failures are a problems are harder to solve.

Cam positional sensor? Your car being an 87 has an M103 motor- no cam positional sensor. You have 2 crank sensors. The one at the bell housing is the one you'd most likely replace.
Besides looking in the service manual- and make sure it specs out.. that's all I could tell you.

For an issue like this you might want to get fuel pressures checked.

The crank pos sensor can be checked with a DMM, it must be between 800-1200 ohms IIRC.

680-1200 Ohms, measured at the EZL. Very easy to do.

OVP

The first thing I would look at for intermitant stalls in that car is the OVP. Situated behind the battery.
