Throttle Body Parts

I'm currently searching for parts to redo the wiring harness on my 93 300E 2.8 throttle housing. It unfortunately is the original one in the car and the wiring is crumbling and giving me startup and idle problems. All the harnesses have been replaced on the engine, but this was overlooked by whomever did the rest of it.

Part number on the wiring connector is : 140 540 37 81

I haven't had any luck finding it in the online stores but hoping one of you may have run across where to get such parts. I have found sites showing how to do it from scratch by cutting the connector apart and buying wires to replace it all, but if there is somewhere to just buy it ready to be soldered to the board would be awesome.

I guess there's no chance MB did a recall for their "environmentally friendly" wires is there? Pretty sure not, as so many have had to pay out plenty because of this issue.

This is not supplied as a spare part only a part of the whole unit.

The most complex systems can fail in the simplest way.

The harness is part of the throttle actuator, unfortunately. Choices are to (1) buy new ETA for around $1,200, (2) find a junked car with the replacement ETA already installed at a U-Pull-It type yard or (3) replace the wiring yourself if you are gifted with splicing and soldering.

Most junkyard throttle bodies are in similar condition. You can rewire your own, but you will need to reuse the plug end. There is a write up on how to split it apart somewhere on here.

Another alternative is to have it rebuilt. There are a number of companies on Ebay that will rebuild. The $300 - $400 (bba-reman, 4mercedes.com, etc.) price range does not include remanufacturing the potentiometer. Beckmann will charge $800 - $1200 which includes the potentiometer. If you are going to spend that much, then get a new one. I bought one on Ebay for $400 that was already rebuilt.
