W210 Oil sending unit o-ring replaced
Hey All,
Just replaced the oil sending unit o-ring(which was supposed to be replaced by an indie who just smeared it with silicon and still leaked!). When I took the unit out, I emptied the oil out of the unit to clean off all the silicon. No leaks, but is now throwing the engine oil light. Oil is up to the max on the dip stick, did I need to put oil back in the unit to prime it before replacing it? Thanks, Matt |

No
But,What are the chances your Silicone Slinging Shadetree inserted a little "Goo"
into the "Sensor's" orifice? (If T'were me I'd of forgotten to re-plug the Electric cable back onto the Sensor) Oil LEVEL Idiot Light system? [it's got a super teeninsie small orifice that allows oil from the sump to float the sensor "level"]

Thanks for the reply, next oil change I'll pull it back off and check to make sure the orifice isn't plugged.
