Time to move on

My E320 Wagon's transmission went bad at over 275k so I decided to move on.
I am looking for a 2004 or 2005 E320 wagon 2wd.
I need some advice in this way. What should I look for?
Any particular week points?
I did see wagons around 80-90k for as low as 15000$. It Is a fair price?
How do M112 engine performs at hi mileage ?
Should I pay extra 2-3k for a lower mileage one?
Is there a difference between steering radius in 4matic vs 2wd?
How about suspension? I really don't need 4matic but I did see that the 2wd availability is very low so I might consider a 4matic?
My time frame is very short I can't stay without a family wagon.
Thanks guys for your help.

The only drive train weakness of the 2003-2006 E-class was the SBC braking system.

The 2003's had some audio issues..

Front end parts have been modified several times as well.

Go with the lowest mileage car you can find & make sure that the trans & transfer case (4-matic's) has been serviced!

At some point the wagons were only sold as 4matic in the U.S. Not sure of the exact model year - it was around 2004-2006. So in the timeframe you are looking at, there may not be any 2wd wagons available. Even back in the 210 chassis days, at least half the wagons out there are 4matic.
