88' 300e idle issues
Found a great deal on an 88 300e. Found it on craigslist for $800! When I got the car put a hot battery in it and it cranked up. I put some gas in it and it rode well for a while then it stopped like it wasnt' getting any fuel. I have tuned it up with new wires, distributor cap, and plugs and rotor. New fuel filter sea foam in the tank. Resonator exhaust pipes eliminated because it was very loud and fixed. new water pump put on as well. The car needs some other little things but i figured with 189000 miles and with the good condition of the interior and body I could have a great daily driver. I was suprised how clean the interior was all the windows work and sunroof works.
My problem is that I cannot get the idle right. The car starts well but idles poorly. I notice when i start off driving it in the morning that it stumbles like it doesnt want to go and i ocassionally here a popping type sound under the hood while trying to accelerate. Once it gets up to a good speed it runs well and will fly. But at stop it runs rough. Anybody have any ideas what the problem may be? |

OVP relay and coil replace those then adjust duty cycle. Do a search here and on benzworld.org youll see what I mean.

OVP is a good start, but they are notorious for having idle problems. That may or may not correct it. See if you can find a working OVP and try it before you cough up the $100 for one.
