Blower motor quit

1989 300ce 101k miles

It just stopped the other day. Figured it was the strip fuse. Pulled the fuse from the 95 e320. Not the fuse.

You can hear the compressor engage when you push the a/c button.

Never lost a blower motor in one of these.

Any other ideas?

For grins, i am going to get a new strip fuse today....

Lee

On that car...power from ignition switch to fuse then to electrical connector at firewall (next to brake booster) & then to blower regulator & then to motor.

Voltage tests at those different points should show you where the problem stems from.

I had this happen on my old 87 300E about 8 years ago or so, and it just happened on my parents 91 300E last week. On my car it was the blower motor, not sure what it is on my parents car yet. You can buy the motor without the cages (quite a bit less for the motor only), but I remember having a difficult time transferring the cages to the new motor and getting it to fit properly under the bracket. I think it was because the stock motor was the original MB part and I bought an OEM motor instead.

thanks for the reply. I am going to pull the motor this weekend and test it.

i would opt for a new motor and cages. I have been told that the cages are very delicate.

There is a 3 pin connector on the fire wall behind the brake booster. one will be about 12v one wil be varied when in auto and one will be the ground. If you have all that its the regulator or the blower motor. If the blower motor just quit and the fuse is good its most likely the regulator.

most likely but get a real wire and bridge the fuse area for testing just to make sure. Also the bearing in the blower motor could have froze or the contact just got too worn.
