acc question

Hello everyone -
I am a new member and a new owner (the 3rd) of a 1990 300sel with 315,000 miles on it. It has been pretty well maintained and is in good condition. I have a question on the acc. It works fine when I start up and drive. If I stop after 10 -15 minutes (for instance to fill up) the ac blows hot air when I restart. It will continue to blow hot air on subsequent restarts unless the car sets long enough to completely cool down (4-5 hours). It seems ok if I drive an hour or so and then stop and restart. It only happens on short trips.
Thanks for the information and knowledge available at this site. I have already learned a lot from the archives but have not seen this problem.
Thanks again-
Ken

your belt and or tensioner is loose.the speed sensor in the compressor is kicking out the clutch.when you start the car hot make sure that the a/c is turned off completely, let the idle stabilise and then start the a/c.it should come on.

Turning off the ac on restarts then turning it on doesn't seem to help. still sometimes blows hot. How do I check the air gap or for an oil film on the clutch? Can it be done without disassembly?
Thanks,
Ken
