installing car stereo
i posted this topic in car audio and did not recieve any replies so i am trying in this forum.
i have a couple of questions on replacing my radio. i have the original becker radio. it works fine but the quality of sound is not very good. there is what looks like a power supply in the back with a 4-5 pin plug. there are only 2 pairs of wires L and R eventhough there are 4 speakers and another wire which could be a antenna wire. can someone give me detailed instructions on how to rewire the new stereo. has any one done this before? thanks |

The Becker radio on your car has only 2 outputs because they have to feed through the thumbwheel fader control for 4 speaker operation. To bypass this fader, remove the wooden trim panel, locate the rear speaker wires and extend them to the radio area. The front speaker wires can usually be found behind the radio via two DIN receptacles, round shape w/ 2 conductors, polarities are marked right next to the pins. The power antenna wire is usually blue w/ female tab connector, ground is brown wire and etc.
