2000 CLK320 Wont Start! Stranded!

My 2000 CLK320 won't start. The key goes in, the lights light up, the lock disengages but when the key is turned, nothing happens. No solenoid click, Nothing.

Please help!

Call 1-800-FOR-MERC for MB Roadside Assistance. If the tech cannot get the engine started then have your CLK320 flatbedded to the nearest MB dealer for diagnostic testing.

On the instrument cluster, do you see the indicator for "P" when the trans shifter is in park?

I had to leave the car in the parking lot for the night and get a ride home. Came back the next day and it started right up. Hope it was a fluke and not an omen.

That's an interesting development. I guess for a while you will be apprehensive each time you're about to start your CLK320.

Robert, welcome

It is good to start a new thread...Most likely issue is from the shifter itself, as it is a computer

If the random no start becomes more common along with sudden shut down while driving, it may be the crankshaft position sensor on the bell housing near the firewall. Tight access but manageable.

My 2000 C280 went from the random no start to dying while driving down the street. After a no start or dying, and waiting an arbitrary amount of time, car would start and run normal until the next episode.
