1992 190E 2.6 - difference between CA & 49 state versions?
Hello:
I'm looking at a 1992 190E 2.6 California car for sale in Canada. It appears to have been legally imported, looks sharp, and I am interested. However, I have a concern and that is because it is a CA version whereas MB cars destined for Canada were, for all I know, largely similar to the 49 state version. Therefore, two questions: 1) What are the differences between CA and the 49 state version? I read that the ECU and the on-board diagnostics (OBD) are different. Any other differences? 2) Does this difference make servicing any more difficult especially in Canada? Anybody in Canada speak to this issue? Is this a non-issue or do the differences cause difficulties? Again, many thanks, Paul |
No real difference other than the fuel system computer....
Fuel system diagnosis can be "easier" with that system. |
As M.B.DOC said...It has an LED diagnostic port near the battery that will give you error codes quick and easily without you having to build a reader. No difference apart from that. Just a nice quick emissions-related feature.
I'd say it is a score finding it! Use it to check for error codes. Seller can't hide anything if you check this. He can hide the check engine light by resetting it every time you visit though. |
