Engine compartment light
Is there one on a 1989 300CE? If so, where would it be located?

There was an OEM one but the parts were euro only, and are now NLA.
The OEM setup used the hood alarm switch to turn on the light. If I were installing an underhood likght I would try to grab one with a built in tilt switch, like one from a 90s Ford. They work great and then you just feed it fused constant power. -J

Have never seen an engine compartment light on a Mercedes, i.e. on the 6 different models I've owned.

i appreciated having such a light in my nissan that i simply made one for my
E320. fortunately, i have a hot terminal in the engine (battery beneath rear seat) and a mercury switch made this a relatively easy DIY feature.
