Arrow Random 86 300e getting worse until warmed up.

This morning around 5am I walked out to start my car.

When I tried to turn it over it cranked-cranked-cranked-cranked-cranked.... On the second rotation from off to on my 86 starts. (not abnormal)

car sputtered a little bit on start up and I have to give it gas for a few seconds to get it running.

After running I drove it down the street about 100 yrds and stopped at a stopsign. Here I turned the wheel to the right and the anti lock dash light came on.

Then the car died, it took a few cranks and the car started then died again. After dying 2 times it started back up and was every slugish and un responsive.

After I drove it home (about 30 miles) the car seemed to drive good not trying to die at slow speeds. But was still slugish and the indicator light was still on.

I've searched the web and I havent had much luck.

THANKS,
Jon

just checked OVP

fuse was fine and ovp did not have a rattle. It does seem that the ovp is the original equipment. kinda dirty under the lid whee the fuse was.

When I first got the 300E about a month ago the fuse was blown.

I tried to jump start the battery but it would not hold a charge so i picked up a new batter so i could drive the car home.

Not sure if anything I have said helps. I just sold my more reliable car and motorcycle I was planning on making this my daily driver for the next 2 yrs until i get settled in buying my first home.... So I need to get this beast running smooth.

Also, on a shorter not I work 30 miles away and I need to get there in 2HRS. ...

Could it be his fuel pump relay? My buddies 90 300E relay was giving him trouble because it would overheat and shut off, but we never knew when. Only thing was his did get sluggish and all that..

I'd replace your OVP anyway. I'm not sure the "shake" test means anything.

Check your part number. The original OVP's were bad. They are cheap anyway.

Does sound like a fuel delivery problem, so the OVP and fuel pump relay are suspects.

When you first turn the key, can you hear the clicking sound of the fuel pumps from the underside of the car? If so, then at least you can rule out the pumps . . . or at least one of them.
