Remove Speaker grills vs. Door Panel?

Does anyone know if you have to take the door panel off to replace the front door speakers on a 91 300E? I'm not sure if mine could survive another based on how it feels.

Thanks

On my 91 560 they come off when two screws are removed from the underside. The panel remains in place.

Cool. I'll check on that. Was trying to pry it out like the dash speakers but wasn't budging. Maybe that's why.

My dash speakers have screws. Well its worth a shot looking for any fasteners. Once mine are out the grilles practically fall out.

I believe that the 124 front door speakers are heat-staked into the door panel and prying them off will require glue or something to secure them again.

Hi, if you get a chance maybe the door speakers have a MB part Number you could share. I have a 300ce. I think a weak speaker needs replacement.
I welcome anybody who knows MB Part numbers to chime in here with any help
Are other MB car models using the same door speaker? actual dimensions, impedance values etc? Does the Active Bass system change any speaker wattage values, dimensions, etc?

Speaking from my own experience, the front dash and rear speakers on a 300CE are 120 mm. IQ car audio has them but you'll spend >$300 replacing all four. i found some, "Carpower" by Monarch, a German mfg., from a European supplier. A set of four cost me $100, shipped. They are direct drop in for the dash, because of some spring clips attached to the speaker frame. Not sure if the door speakers are built the same.

I don't know how these sound, as I bought and installed the IQ speakers. I still have them new in the box if you're interested. Impedence is 4 ohm.

There is a thread in this forum with pictures of Carpower speakers being installed in a 300TE. Shouldn't be too hard to find.

I need the VIN# for the rear speakers.

Have a great day.
