"Check Engine" light on; part 3; finally
To recap my "check engine light" came on; 2004 W211 E320.
Well, those that read parts 1 & 2 know the big diagnostic showed the following: P2075-002: Purge control system has a slight leak (Minor leak): Leak in hose connection or shutoff valve of activated charcoal canister (P0456) and P2026-004 Y58/1 (Purge control valve) Open circuit/switchover valve permanently closed (P0444) As most had stated these codes give you an idea of what it might be and while narrowing it down it still requires a final accurate assessment. Some suggested my Indy shop was over playing the high prices dealers charge. So, He ordered the Purge control valve, I brought it in. he reran the diagnostic test again (because he had turned off the "check engine" light to see if it would come back on, it did not) then sent me on my way (He lent me his personable Lexus RX330) When I checked back he said he found the problem, Total bill $90.00. It was a leaking vacuum hose and the valve was not required so he basically charged me for the test and changed the hose for free. Anyone care to suggest my local dealer service department would have done better?? L
