W126 560 SEL rear defrost....
Saw a 420 SEL the other day. In fact I was trying to buy it before I found the 560. I noticed the rear defrost had rather thick, ugly copper lines in the window.
Mine has lines so thin that I did not even think I had defrost! Just a switch to look at. What was standard? Was the thin wire normal or an upgrade? Was it only on the 560? Did the 420 simple have a new window installed? Just curious.

Probably had the window replaced. Did you see the markings on the glass to see who had manufactured it?

A friend had a 500SEL which had had the laminated rear window replaced with a single pane one, which had the "traditional" thick painted on defroster lines. The original window had delaminated and was leaking according to the PO.

Okie dokie. Was just wondering. And no I did not look at the glass maker. If I had I am sure I would have answered my own question. But I hate snooping around a car too long.
And I must say that I LOVE the thin wire style MUCH better. It looks so much cleaner.
