1985 500sel trans and water pump?

Rebuilding 1985 500 sel trans 722.3
How do I know if the reaction valves for b1@b2 need replacing?

Also, in water pumps is Meyle better than LASO?

Thanks
God Bless
John

The VIN # is WDB 1260371A100375, also is this vin for a 1985 500 sel or a 1984,I have been advised both. I think this is a grey maket vehicle. Any idea what this vehicle listed new?

Thanks so much
John

Thumbs up

John, the VIN tells you it is a Grey Market 500SEL. US VIN began 'WBDCA' or 'WDBCB'

My European 380SE was stolen or I would look closer for you, but the US cars have a black tag in the driver door that states the month and year of build.

Water pumps are about the same. I would prefer Laso or Graf over the Meyle. Be sure to go ahead and flush the system while in there. Use MB coolant or Xerex G05. Block is easy to drain. Inspect all hoses when coolant system is open. Check that expansion tank, if original replace. They are fairly inexpensive.

May as well replace belts as you will be in there. Clean the A/C condenser too, no easier time.
