ok guys...
the queen drives the 1988 560sel. short runs to work(3-5 minutes) and then rt to san antonio/austin once a week when i first posted i assumed water vapor.....the car is not overheating...my indy says no leaks at head gasket...but the queen describes this scenario.... she starts fine...goes to a light....the front end is facing down as the light is downhill...she sits at the light and starts smoking...like billowing white smoke, enough to cover two cars back when it starts it doesn't stop until she gets to work.... she says it smells like something is burning...ie im thinking tranny fluid(possibly)...no oil.... opinions please/... ps ...sorry for vagueness..i have not seen this and have to rely on her description. help please... lyle in austin/san antonio/marfa, tx |

My 300 was billowing white like that...changed the vacuum modulator on the trans, and that was that.

Hi Lyle - sorry to read it isn't solved yet.
How about you driving the car and seeing the symptoms first hand?
