m103 thermostat by-pass hose

Hey all,

I'm looking at the tiny hose that goes between the thermostat and the head on my m103. I want to replace it, it looks pretty ugly and shot. Is there enough room to get the old hose off and the new one on, or do i have to move the water pump?

To replace the hose properly you should remove the water pump. That's a good time to install a rebuilt water pump (from your local MB dealer). Suggest buying the hose from your local MB dealer too ... it will be high quality and durable.

I recently replaced this on my car. I had read that it could be done with everything in place. After I cut the old one off I didn't think it would be possible. I "lubed" the hose with some soap and went to work. 5 minutes later it was on.
