420 sel auto trans need help

to all the best & Brightest

I want to know if the transmission in this car has the key in the modulator to turn up pressure so the shifting can be quicker & firmer.

I have done it with a few 300sd of w116 and w 126.
Yesterday I crawled underneath play lizard.
i found the vacuum hose on the passenger side, but the lid/cover is facing the top different from the older ones that face to the right passenger door.
Because of tight cramped space I cant fit my finger or see anything when viewing from underneath & side.
Also the dual exhaust down pipe is in the way greatly, not much room at all. Unless I drop the exhaust pipes, or tilt the trans rearward, either way is a major undertaking.

Year? My 91 560 SEL does. On the driver side. I turned mine without change. So I probably need a new one.

so does yours have a vac line going into it? Or just pop a cap squeeze in the snap ring and out comes the key?

If u tighten up the TC cable as to make it shift at a higher RPM may help sometimes.
thanks
i may go crawl underneath play Lizard tonite.
But kind of un-motivated now.

Yup. Vac line (mine looks new). Then there is, if I recall, a dark plastic thing I can turn towards the top or towards the bottom.

I never played with the bowden cable though, my shift points seem great.

i did it, I crawled underneath twice, played Iguana wish i had a heated rock too.
The first time 1 notch did some improvement, the 2nd time I turned 2-3 notches and is much tighter, i can accelerate uphill from a red light part throttle I can feel the shift is much tighter no more flare between 1-2 or 2-3 now.

TIA

only if i had the mulla I wouldnt need to ask q. here altogether. let the stealership sort out the issues, is only money thats all.

i have set up the TC throttle valve cable to highest shift point already, higher shift point do help the tranny as u dont dump on next high gear as soon as u move the car.

talking to a RR mechanic , he told me the orig RR shadows' shifting were pretty tight/quick as from the factory, since is GM turbo 400 many folks play around with them, and drop in softer modulator so ti shift like a cadillac, u dont feel much when it shifts. but the issues arise in a few yrs as it can burn out the frictions prematurely.

something we have to decide on ride comfort vs reliability.

My 81 300sd has a very tight shift in some occasion it can give me a bad whip lash.
