EGR system
I can't seem to clear my check engine light, and the fault lights appear to point to EGR faulty (5) and/or Purge switch-over valve open or shorted (21). I've replaced the vacuum lines. I think the next thing to do is test the EGR, but the one in my 1995 e320 cabriolet looks different than replacements online. Mine is in-line with an inlet and outlet that are nipples. The replacement parts are body mounted (see attachments). The unit in my car is on the passenger side of the engine about three-quarters of the way back. Am I looking at the right part?

On M104.992 engines the most common reason for EGR code #5 is blockage in the metal pipe that goes into the intake manifold.
