Paper clip etc
I got my tumbler out with a straightened paper clip. Stuck the paper clip in the hole and then that hardened steel tumbler cover would turn.
By the way, I used a cheap hand sander to get the stuck key to turn; I popped out the instrument cluster so I could get the hand sander behind the steering wheel and resting on the lock assbly. This was on a 1984 300D 123 Euro model |

190e key wont turn ignition after....
After spreading a fine film of graphite on each of my ignition keys just as a "precaution," my dumbass brother/wrench has caused the ignition switch not to turn.
Would something as ridiculous as graphite cause one of the tumblers to stick? Or is this something related to a steering wheel lock gone bad??? Anybody ever have this problem before? Car is an '89 190e 2.6 Need help. |

If your lock set up is the same as mine (and make sure it is) then you'll want to see this:

just chill
major problem with my 1980 123 (240D) a few years ago
but I lucked out when the key turned after leaving the car set for several days when my 84 126 (300SD) had the same problem I sat there sweating on a jot afternoon trying to turn the key memories of the same miserable heat when I was stuck in the 123 then it came to me that the problem might be temperature related makes sense the tumblers are worn out perhaps a change of temp made just enough difference between go and no go so the next morning I when it was cool I went to the car, got in, turned the key and drove home as to the WD40 controversy WD40 should never be used around lock on on boats it removes lubricants and then evporates but the goal here is to make the lock work once then replace it so I don't see it as an issue

I am going to raise some ire here
I took my 81 TD into a locksmith with the same problem he sprayed some WD40 into the keyway they went around the car and sprayed the rest of the locks That was two or three years ago I have not had a problem since
