euro lights

about to finally start work on my 87 300e and the first thing i have to fix is the headlights (doesnt have any).I picked some off ebay, some euro lights that i like the look of.problem is the wiring on the car and the lights dont match and a different amount of wires. Does anyone have a diagram that can tell me what colors are what so i can match them up? Car has been plowed into the garage for last 3 months and i can finally work on it and im dying to get it outfor inspection. After inspection i can work on its other gremlins (mostly electrical in nature ive asked about in past. Thanks for all the help and thank goodness for this site.

There are several . . . nay, way too many, threads about connecting up the six prong lights and the wire swap necessary. The search feature of vBulletin will reveal those for you.

There's probably a better diagram out there but this is close. On one side (top to bottom) is Brown, white, green. On the other side is vacant, city light (if you hook it up, otherwise also vacant) and yellow on the bottom.

Assuming you know you need the 6 prong euro connector

There's no such thing as a "Euro connector" . . . it's the same plug that's used for the tail light assembly.

qty (2) - 006 545 80 28 - six-pin electrical connector, socket
qty (2) - 009 545 30 28 - six-pin electrical connector, cover

The lights I got off ebay don't have a plug just 5 wires dangling. That's where I got confused

Good call. I went crazy finding two 6 pin plugs when I put in my euro headlights. But now that I think about it, they are indeed the same!

what im looking for is the stock wiring info. The stock 4 pin connector i dont know what each wire goes to. The new lights have no plug and ill be using a stock 4pin from a busted up light and splice into that. THANXX

You will need to find 6 pin plugs if you want to install the european lights. You cannot use the stock 4 pin plugs.

Just get the right plug. Don't skimp on headlight wiring, it's vitally important.

WOW- wish I had a diagram like that when I did the Depo's on our euro 87! I had to order the connectors too. I do remember that wiring them was confusing. I can say this though, of ALL the upgrades and repairs I've done to the 190, swapping the headlights for the euros and installing some GOOD Euro (Philips Vision Plus) H4 bulbs has been the most significant improvement to the car. I honestly couldn't see hardly anything out in the rural areas with the nasty, cheap, yellow sealed beams it had on it...

I tryed putting up some pics. Hope it worked. Comp has a virus and just using my phone. Well I got the radio in and let me tell you what a job. The last owner butchered most of the wiring in the dash. I now have 3 of 4 windows working. Does anyone know if there is a power lead to the moon roof? I checked the wires and there are no hot ones.also now that I have a radio how do I check why the power antenna wont go up? Thanxx

Funny that it passed inspection with Euro lights, ... I guess they don't look very close.
