Remove Pad Non-Air Bag Wheel

Hey everyone,

How do I remove the giant horn button switch on my non-airbag 16" wheel? It doesnt have any screws in the back like the airbag wheels do..

You'll understand why now:

It needs to be shortened still. Its going to be a table. I'll get some plexiglass or lexan to top the SD wheel with..

On my 300SD you pry out the center MB logo and then IIRC you can pry off the horn pad. In the very least, prying out the MB logo will give you access to the bolt holding the wheel on (although mine was torqued and loc-tited so far that I couldn't get it even with a huge flex bar). Its kind of tricky, the pad overhangs the logo quite a bit and isn't all that flexible.

Not married are you? If so, you are lucky man. I would love to have the entire W124 interior in my living room.

I actually have the back seat of the 124 in my garage. Originally it was going to be a couch, but after seeing the massive amount of wood and weight of the front seats I built combined with the lack of physical room the project was abandonded.

I got the pad off, I just yanked it right off.

Yes I'm not married lol. Someone recommended that i get some thick glass and put it on top the wheel. I was thinking more of plexiglass or lexan cut into a 16" circle..however they said I should get regular glass with a bit of overhang... anythoughts?

James, a 20" diameter piece of 1/2" thick tempered glass atop the wheel would make an attractive table. You may need adhesive in a few spots to keep the glass in place.

Why are the wooden arms on the chair so high? Looks very peculiar to me.
