94 E320 starts jerking at 3000 rpm

Just put a head gasket on this vehicle besides the average issues with this had no problems. accept the plug going to the air pump broke put it back together. do not know if having these wires reversed will cause this problem or not.

At 3000 rpm it stops pulling and starts bucking or surging if i let off get below 3000 it will pull hard up to 3000 and starts ll over again. any ideas..............

It may be that you are running the original engine wiring harness and disturbing it to do the head gasket made it fail. MB used biodegradeable insulation for the harness and all wiring therein. As a result the original harnesses all have to be replaced.

That's just one idea.

In park if I rev motor to 3000 rpm it feels like it has a rev limiter on it. like on our race car. I am lost

In park, it probably does have a rev limiter. The older 124s did.

I agree it most likely does have a rev limiter in park. However it shoud not have the same problem at the same rpm in drive.........

When the wiring harness is bad it will throw codes. I'd get under there and check out the condition of the harness. It will tell you you need this or that but really it's the harness. THE HARNESS.

Rule it out first.
