W210 fuel tank swap
Would it be possible to swap a 21 gallon fuel tank from a 1996-99 E320 into my 1996 E300D, in place of its existing 16.4 gallon tank? The extra 4+ gallons would be nice to have. I don't know if the various fittings are the same but the tank should fit, given that the E300 and the E320 bodies are identical.
Jeremy

Not familiar with the W210, but it's a plug and play swap on a W124.
I'd be very surprised if your case wasn't similar. My general experience is that MB bodies are set up for all possibilities, that is, holes and mounts are already on the body stamping for all variations. Jim

Thanks, Jim. In fact, I just discovered in EPC that the diesel has an "optional" fuel tank carrying the identical part number to the gasoline 210. So it should be a bolt-in operation.
Speaking of the W124, another thing I'd like to find is the 20-something gallon tank that the 1995 E300D came with. Mercedes advertised that car as having a 750-mile range because of the large tank. Jeremy
