Can someone identify this part from a 1988 560 SEL
Hi Folks,
I removed the center console and carpet preparing to replace the parking brake cable in my '88 560 SEL. In the driver footwell, next to the gas pedal I found the spring-like wire shown in the attached photo. It appears to run inside an insulated tube, and has burst out of the tube (or the tube is worn away. Does anyone know what this is or what problems it might be causing or about to cause? Thanks! -Tom Virginia, USA 1988 560 SEL 1989 260 E Sadly, I no longer have my 1985 380 SE 1982 300 D 1979 240 D (\__/) (='.'=) This is Bunny. Condensation drain tube.
It is supposed to be a tube, to carry the condesation water from the A/C unit to outside of the car, yours is simply peeing on the floor.

Thanks, Jeff,
I guess I just haven't noticed the moisture because it's been too cold to run the A/C.
Cheers! -Tom Virginia, USA 1988 560 SEL 1989 260 E Sadly, I no longer have my 1985 380 SE 1982 300 D 1979 240 D (\__/) (='.'=) This is Bunny. Copy and paste bunny into your (")_(") signature to help him gain world domination |
