Improved quality of replacement parts?

As an owner of a 1994 E420, I recently had the dis-pleasure of two costly repairs, namely, the wiring harness and throttle valve actuator. Considering that both of these items are fairly notorious repair items for this vehicle, and that the chief cause for both problems concerns excessive engine heat, I was just wondering if the factory replacement parts were re-designed to address the problem of engine heat. It would be a real shame if MB simply offered the exact same parts as originally installed, as that would result in the same predictable failure down the road.

Does anyone know whether these parts were re-designed to better handle the known engine compartment temperatures of the E420?

The wiring harness has been modified! The wiring on the the throttle actuator has also been modified. The actuator itself hasn't.

I had several repairs done on my 420SEl where I was told that parts had been modified and improved to correct certain problems and perform their functions better. I think MB is in the habbit of doing this.

That's great to hear. Hopefully, these two issues will be behind me for quite some time. With all the money I have put into the car, I'm planning on shooting for 300K at least.
