On a technical note

With cars full of wires and sensors I've heard of a recording device available that monitors and records everything the car does. And you could tack on a GPS. Has anybody heard anything about that. As with anything in a car it was first devoloped for racing.

I've heard of a pro driver disagreeing with the computer about which gear he was in. My money is on the computer

Like a car Black Box?

I've heard of them, but only for racing, not for use out in public.

There are various black box capabilities built into many controllers now days. None of us know all of it. Here is an example of an aftemarket black box: http://www.easesim.com/autowatch/autowatch.htm

I read an article about Rental Car companies using those.

Good thing my 300D is mechanical, that black box thing is useless

Just wanted to say...

Whoever would press charges on their kid because he was stupid and irresponsible is being foolhardy. It would be one thing to kick him out, tell him to get a job, and leave the luxury of his parents home... but sending your own son to JAIL? I was brought up believing that your children are far more valuable than any car, no matter how stupid the kid was.... He damaged the home and the car and the parents have a right to be very angry, but not enough to harm their son's life and future by getting him thrown in jail

Oh my gosh

I wonder how the family is doing today?

This deserves a follow up story.
