Flashing Lights when blinker is on

I have an 1980 Euro 450 SLC, with some old car issues!! When I switch on the left blinker the left High beam starts flashing with the blinker. And when I switch on the lights the left blinker indicatoer lamp in the cluster lights up as well.

Then when I pull the light switch so as to switch on the front fog lights the wipers come on, when i switch off the foglamps i.e push back light swict the wipers goes off.

what can this by? I am thinking combination switch for the blinker headligh issue, but surely the combination switch cannot cause wipers to come on if foglights are switched on??

Please help me to sort this gremlin out.

Electric problems like these are often caused by a bad ground somewhere.
If you have the circuit diagram you may find the point where the ground problem may be located.

Battery voltage good? We have a C280 that did some really wierd stuff when the alternator went out and caused the battery to run down. I tried to crank it and the wiper tried to wipe without the wipers even being turned on.

It's probably the combination switch. The wiper-fog connection may be due to the combination switch acting as the "flasher". When you flash the high beams, you're also flashing the fogs so there's continuity from the fogs to the switch. If there's a problem inside the switch or the connector (e.g. a shorted wire or pin) then turning on the fogs may short to the wiper section of the switch. Do your wipers come on when you "flash" your high beams?

But...

Since it's a euro, you may have some weirdness going on with the headlights. Were they federalized to remove/relocate the "city light" as a side marker light? Euro lights or DOT? Rear fog, too?

Try unplugging the connector for the left front and see what happens. If the problem with the left turn indicator in the dash glowing goes away, it might be the electrics in that corner of the car. If it doesn't go away, it may be in the combo switch.

Thanks, Ill try removing the front left light plug and retest. Will report back. This is a south african car so the fogs does not flash when high beams are flashed.
