no reverse on 300ce

my tranny had a delay going into reverse, the delay got longer and longer till reverse stopped functioning, forward shifts wonderfull,i was told the hydraulic reverse piston could be the issue, anyone know how costly that is,or is it worth having the entire tranny overhauled, tranny only has 69k on it.thanks

B3 bands are probably toast.

I've have the same iss with mine for months. Reverse delayed until finally nothing, but it quit out after I replaced the front flex disc. The thing is, I can't reverse up a hill or even a sidewalk from a stand still, but I am able to reverse on level ground. ps2cho mentioned a B3 band which is exactly what I was told as well. Not sure about the price, my tranny has about 280k on it. If the B3 is extensive I would look into how much an overhaul would cost vs having the B3 only vs buying a rebuilt tranny and just installing it yourself

69k is still really early for a complete overhaul. Just do the b3 bands and be done with it. Even at 69k...i'm surprised reverse went out this early. Do you engage drive after reversing while the car is still rolling back frequently? Thats the only thing I can think of due to the heavy early wear.

when i bought the car it had a small reverse engagement delay,i think what caused it to let go was the snow, engaging from drive to reverse trying to get the car to move out of the parking space,if on level ground it will roll a few feet when i rev rpm to about 2,500- 3,000 you can hear a minor metal clank and the car rolls backwards.im gonna send it in to have diag done,i just dont wanna hear well since were going this far you may aswell do a complete overhaul,it shifts great in forward.

Any shop is gonna tell you to completely overhaul I bet you 100%...everybody is struggling right now for cash. If the shifting is firm and is not slipping, leave it alone!

Just make sure to do B3 bands and reseal the front pump.
