1987 300SDL SRS Light always on

I've been reading about the SRS and it being always on, but I don't think I can pull the codes, as the manual saya 1988 and up for the 8 pin diagnostic connector (which the car has, but looks like there aren't any pins in it) Can I pull codes and if so from where?

Or do I need to try to figure this one out blindly?

No reading codes, need an old MB adapter to diagnosis..

MOST likely causes are the voltage capacitor OR the steering wheel brushes.

I agree with DOC - lived with mine until my combo switch went out and then did the SW brushes. All is well (again) (for now)

I don't see thethe SDL in your your sig line, is it new to you or someone else's?

Do the seat belts fully retract?

It could most likely be the steering wheel rings already mentioned, unless the belts don't fully retract. It is possible it may have been in enough of a bump to deploy the airbag(s) and then repaired. If that is the case whoever did the repairs most likely did not replace the crash sensor. The sensor is mounted on top of the tranny hump under the center console.
