There is a small diameter hose/tube that runs from the valve cover breather hose to the fuel pressure regulator. Replaced it and she started right up and actually runs smoother. thanks for all your help. Your suggestions alerted me to systems I would never have thought to look into.

That small tube from the fuel pressure regulator to the intake hose to the air cleaner has no function other than as a precaution in case the F.P.R. inside diaphragm breaks down and fuel leaks out. (the fuel would be taken to the AFM and burned).

You may have dislodged something in the area of the hose - IACV or IACV hoses or something.

AFM, IACV? Not sure what these are. The last time I spent so much time under the hood was for a 1965 289ci Comet. I did jump the FPR just in case and the fuel pump did run. Please let me know if there is another potential problem so I can deal with it. Tired of walking to the store. 12 packs of Fosters are rather heavy after a several mile walk! Thanks.
