94 C280 (W202) air ducts???
Been looking at a 94 C280. Car runs/drives great and looks pretty good. But, the HVAC ducts don't change position. I verified that the little vacuum manifold that is under the cover on the pass side where the electronics boxes are, isn't broken and it's getting vacuum. So what's more likely, bad controller or a broken vacuum source supply line? Anyone have any idea how those lines are run? Or have a vacuum schematic for a 94 C280? Does the controller actually control the vacuum switching or does it control electrical signals that then control solenoids?
And... where are the various pieces and how do you get to them? Already verified that the fan motor is toast. Karl M. |

Most likely the vacuum elements are not working. Whether it is a vacuum leak or failed elements you'll either have to find the leak or replace the elements. If you do a search for vacuum element on the parts places websites you'll find the different elements. I'm facing a similar problem on mine. As the vacuum pump eventually shuts off, I've chosen to not worry about the problem.
I disconnected the elements from the vents and opened the centers manually. You'll find one element behind the speedometer and the other behind the glove box. As this gives me center vents I'll worry about the proper solution later. You can find how to tear apart your dashboard here: http://kropf.net/w202/Dashboard.html Brian |
