redrocket, typically a plastic trim piece covers the 2 bolts which secure the arm rest to the driver's seat. The trim piece snaps into place, and off. Due to its age it may break so pry gently when removing it. If it does break your local MB dealer should be able to acquire a new color-matched one, or go to your local salvage yard.
