Where on the exhaust does the support go from the tranny?
 

Quick question, on my 1988 300E where does the support that bolts from the tranny to the exhaust go. Does it go on the straight section or does it go to the area that goes at an angle to more of the centre of the car? Does anyone have a picture? When I bought the car, the bracket was in the trunk and it looks bent. Any help would be appreciated.

Can't say about the support on the 300E's, but every other one I have seen has been straight. So, it should mount to the exhaust in line with where it mounts to the tranny. I would highly suggest, if the support looks bent, get a new one. Also get a bushing kit for the support mount, the kit is only about $15.00, includes new rubbers, bolts, washers and U-bolt.
