190E Scraped Bottom on Washed Out Road

The wife drove over a portion of washed out gravel road and scraped bottom. Now reverse gear is slipping. It will no longer move when in reverse and if on an incline.

Can this be caused by a bent linkage or a similar problem? Can a local mechanic or even myself fix it? The car has only 115,000 miles on it.

First check tranny fluid level, then drive car on ramps and get under there and look for a leak and look at the linkage.
