Help! Drivers door handle reinstall....

Ok my key wouldn't turn in the drivers door so I pulled the handle with the cylinder and sent it out to be fixed.

Today come re-installation i'm having one hell of a time doing the job. Everytime we install the handle with the lock the key will unlock but not lock and if we open the door after an attempt the alarm blows. If I unlock one of the other doors in an attempt to disengage the alarm the drivers door won't even acctuate with the vacuum. If we pull the handle all goes back to normal again.

What am I missing here?

Sounds like 2 problems.
1) Where the end of the lock shaft goes into the door latch, does the plastic part in the latch seem loose?
2) The alarm switch on the handle isn't sending both signals.

Have you removed the passenger side & looked at how it works?

Yes the plastic piece is loose (Actually it isn't even attached to anything...it did look like it had a nipple to hold it to the sheet metal and we tried pushing that into place but it didn't work. I figured that the pressure from the lock would keep it in place.....)

This is bad isn't it.... (I.E $$$$$$)

I had this problem....
Is the rear of the handle sticking out too?
If it is you gotta take the lock out, push it foward toward the front of the door, and once its in place the lock and its surround will go home properly.

Nope the handle does go in completely flush.

OK figured it out....sort of. I pulled a lock mechanism from a parts car today to see what I was up against.

The plastic piece that the handle connects to had somehow come lose from the metal body. It's a socket of sorts and getting that piece back in place doesn't seem to be possible. I'll be removing the existing unit and install the part that I got from the parts-mobile tomorrow. Then i'm going to see if remounting that plastic piece is even possible. (Picture to follow)

SONOFA .

Alright so I pulled a working lock mechanism from another car and compared it to mine. Turns out the metal clip that holds the plastic in place was gone on mine. I put the other working latch into my car and tried to reassemble the handle. I got everything together and now the key locks but won't turn to unlock. Also it doesn't look like the plastic piece is turning at all AND the alarm blows every time I open the door. Help
