Can the roof trim be removed and replaced?

The E420 is headed to Maaco.

So I'm removing all I can. The trim on the W124 roof - can I remove it in such a way as to replace it after the paint job?

Things like the E420 letters on the trunk were removed with dental floss (knew there was a reason the dentist gave me that package.)

The Mercedes star on the trunk just popped of by pushing the pins from the inside.

The window rubber just pulled up.

I've removed the side modeling, and am removing the bumper covers.

So - the roof trim is what I'm puzzled about.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

I've considered removing the door handles, but fear I'd break something.

If you start at the front windshield you can easily get your fingers under there and the trim just pulls straight up.

The piece around the rear window is much more difficult if you want to remove it.

And - Snap back on?

I'm interested in the trim that starts at the front fender and wraps along the roof to the rear window.

Cool. It just pops off. If I start at the front - do I start at the fender?

Will it just pop back on? I'm OK with buying clips if they are needed.

Guess I should consider taking the trim off from around the windows - do they pop off also?

Thanks again

I'd say it's easiest to start at the front fender/lower windshield. I highly doubt you'll break any of those clips, they are metal, not plastic.

I would use a one of the trim removal tools you can get at any auto shop supply store and then I start at the back and move towards the front.
